“For the Love of Carpets” is an animation series created for social media, where carpets come to life through simple yet creative animation. The project is rooted in my childhood fascination with Persian carpets—their intricate patterns, rich textures, and the stories they hold. In Syria, almost every household has these beautiful carpets, woven into daily life and family memories. Through animation, they transform into dynamic, magical landscapes, evoking the playful and imaginative spirit of youth. By placing carpets in unexpected and surreal situations, I aim to transport viewers back to their childhood, sparking feelings of nostalgia and joy.
The first part of the series consists of four videos with a meditative approach. Inspired by childhood memories, they capture the sensation of carpet patterns moving gently in the wind. This segment, titled “Carpets and the Wind,” creates a dreamlike experience, inviting viewers to lose themselves in these mesmerizing movements.
The second part of the series has a more whimsical, physics-driven concept. Here, carpet patterns respond to gravity, breaking apart and falling as if they were real, tangible objects affected by natural forces. Titled “Gravity and the Wind,” this segment plays with the unexpected, making the carpets feel alive in a new way. Sound design played a crucial role in both parts of the series, meticulously crafted to enhance the visuals and create an immersive experience.
“For the Love of Carpets” became one of my most successful projects to date, surpassing my expectations in reach and engagement. The series resonated with people across the world, particularly those with a love for art, craftsmanship, and nostalgia.
The project was widely featured by online magazines and curated art collections—many of which I have followed for years as sources of inspiration. Notable platforms that highlighted my work include:
